Hiking trail: Around the Col de la Perheux
67570 Rothau - Localiser
La Perheux is a fantastic natural area in a mountain meadow where history meets legend. In the Middle Ages, when witchcraft trials were rife, defendants condemned to death were often burnt here at the place of execution on the Col de la Perheux. This is also where Oberlin had the Altar of the Homeland set up. Here, nearby mountain-dwellers gathered to celebrate the Fête de la Fédération on July 14th 1790.
