In 1996, the town of Saâles launched a vast programme to open up the surrounding landscape, involving renovation of abandoned fields and cutting down spruce trees near residential areas. In 2000, the project was begun to plant 350 tall trees on land recovered for farmers. The trail brings you an exceptional view over the blue line of the Vosges mountains and of 350 fruit trees from 80 traditional varieties.
