The exhibition "Michael Kenna, photographs of the Natzweiler camp," presented at the European Center of Deported Resistance, invites the public to discover poignant photographs of the Natzweiler concentration camp. This personal project by the British photographer, born of deep emotion, is the result of 15 years of traveling in Europe to capture the remains of the Nazi camps in black and white.
His artistic approach transforms these places of memory into a visual tribute, helping to preserve the memory of past horrors. Produced in partnership with the National Resistance Museum, the exhibition invites us to react and get involved in a work of memory by offering 41 photos, 17 of which were the subject of an exceptional print by the artist, of the Natzweiler camp. The photographs are in dialogue with vestiges of the camp: the drawings of a former detainee, the everyday objects of the deportees and the American photographs taken at the liberation of the camp.
