The Alsatian resistance network Les Pur-Sang is the subject of the comic strip "Têtes de mule" by Étienne Gendrin.
This story recounts the lives of six young Alsatian women, and more specifically that of Alice Daul. Rebelling against the de facto annexation of Alsace and Moselle by the Third Reich in the summer of 1940, they formed a resistance network that helped, among others, French and foreign prisoners of war. They also dedicated themselves to assisting these prisoners and Alsatians fleeing the RAD (Revolutionary Action Service) and forced conscription, helping them escape to occupied France or Switzerland.
Etienne Gendrin revisits the history of this network through the exhibition he has dedicated to it.
The exhibition “Resistants!” is based on the comic strip “Stubborn.”
