The Association Environnement et Culture invites you to a conference led by archaeologist Maxime Walter. Based on the study of high sites, what do we know about the occupation of the Vosges massif before the arrival of the Romans? What do we know about the occupation of the Vosges massif before the arrival of the Romans? Was it a vast, untamed forest devoid of human inhabitants? Or, on the contrary, an area that was frequented, inhabited and exploited? To explore these vast questions, even if known archaeological discoveries are rare, we can rely on the study of Bronze Age and Iron Age hilltop sites, the often fortified settlements that line the spurs and peaks of the massif.
