Maxime Kurvers stages a performed dialogue with the Japanese actor and theoretician Yoshi Oida, questioning, through a drift through his memory, the role and social function of the performers but also, more broadly, the ethical and metaphysical scope theater. Following on from Theories and practices of acting (1428-2022), 4 questions to Yoshi Oida is part of the theatrical anthropology project through which Maxime Kurvers maps the practices and theories of his discipline. Reduced to its sole dramaturgy and the provision of a few props, the staging focuses attention on its dialogue with the Japanese actor and theoretician, taking up the codes of the “side of the stage”, here given again in a performative form . Yoshi Oida shares on stage his reflections on an art that he has practiced for more than half a century, expressing a memory whose transmission this show would implement. The interview, conducted as spontaneously as possible, is structured around four questions and attempts to pay homage to Yoshi Oida's unique way of thinking about theater, beyond its sensitive dimension, as a way of to situate oneself and to walk in the world, to learn to live there, and therefore to die there.
