The Donon massif has an exceptional forest. The Donon-Schneeberg sites, mainly forest and located on ridges or slopes, are dedicated to the protection of certain birds - capercaillie, wood grouse, woodpeckers, shrike and peregrine falcon - as well as lynx, wild cat, bats. mice, amphibians, reptiles or insects. On the flora side, various plants are also protected: taxa fern, peat plants, rock or scree plants. Part of the massif is classified as "Natura 2000", the European program which defines areas for the preservation of remarkable natural environments.
