If you ask Nicole Lignel to show you her favorite spot, she will certainly take you a little above her farm on the heights of Belmont, to the “Cabane du Berger”. Because it is the starting or stopping point for several of the walks she leads as part of the Pleasure Trails. But also, and above all, because this is where she best reconnects with her memories...
“My origins, my life, my choices... It’s all there! »

“Why the Shepherd’s Hut? It is true that the place may seem modest. And there are many more beautiful views around Belmont. However, this is where I often come back because I immediately find everything that is important to me.
First of all, the very particular charm of this mountain landscape, harsh no doubt, but also so cheerful. My father, who was from Paris, came here with a fanfare. And he never left again... All my childhood memories are there. The shepherd was a village figure. In the morning, when he blew his trumpet, the cows came out. He led them to graze on the Haut des Monts plateau. Then they went back down to the “rest” in the middle of the day. And he was taking a nap in his cabin. I myself looked after the cows here when I chose to become a farmer after running the village grocery store.
Today, my son Mickaël has taken over the farm. I have a little time. And I like to lead the Pleasure Trail walks. Lots of beautiful things to see, but also stories to tell on the paths of Belmont and Champ du Feu. As I walk, my mother's words come back to me to tell the legends of here, like that of the Roche des "Popains" - babies in patois - on which women in need of children came to beg. Thinking about all this calms me down. Because it's timeless. In any case, other times. Less materially provided, but certainly less stressed too and certainly happier. »
