During the second half of the 19th century, Bruschois factory owners had housing built in series for workshop workers. They are particularly representative of workers' housing, therefore considered "minimum but sufficient": two rooms, kitchen, cellar and attic, sometimes with a lean-to intended for livestock. Some testimonies of this recent past are visible in the Bruche valley: La Broque (rue du Général de Gaulle), Schirmeck (rue du Sanatorium). See the map
