The Hohwald waterfall located at an altitude of 700 meters is the ideal place for lovers of the great outdoors. Its natural beauty will seduce you every season.
On sunny days, greenery predominates, the air is pleasant and remains fresh, even in the heat. In summer, don't be surprised to see a few courageous people, usually children, plunging their feet into the icy water of the river.
In the fall the landscape turns orange. When the leaves cover the ground it is a pleasure for the ears to hear these crunches and for the eyes to admire this gradient of colors.
Then comes winter, the white coat takes over. It's a bit as if time stops, only the sound of this raging water breaks the silence.
The waterfall is accessible all year round, you just need to equip yourself according to the weather.
There are two ways to get there:
A version for lovers of beautiful walks with a 6 kilometer loop to be covered in 1h30, through the forest and the village of Hohwald.
The second, more direct version, allows you to park in a car park at the exit of the village towards the Col du Kreuzweg. You take a small path marked with a red circle for 800 meters. Five minutes, 250 meters of elevation gain, it's a little strain on the calves but nothing insurmountable and you've arrived.
In both cases a pair of good shoes is essential.
For picnic lovers, a table and benches are set up at the foot of the waterfall and for farm inn lovers you will undoubtedly find what you are looking for at Hohwald.
