European Heritage Days: The european centre of deported resistance members - The former Natzweiler-Struthof camp

67130 Natzwiller - Localiser

At the place called Le Struthof, at an altitude of 800 metres on Mont-Louise, the remains of the only German concentration camp on French territory are preserved. In Alsace, annexed by Germany of the Third Reich, the Nazis opened the Konzentrationslager (KL) Natwzeiler in the spring of 1941. 52,000 people from all over Europe were deported to KL-Natzweiler or its annex camps. They were mainly political and resistance deportees. The Struthof site, which covers 4.5 hectares, bears witness to the "hell of the camps" and passes on the memory of the Natzweiler deportees.
Free guided tours offered for individuals, at 10:00 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 2:00 pm, 2:30 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
