Bernard Gewinner

67130 Grandfontaine - Localiser

"Bernard Gewinner, Club Vosgien volunteer and hike guide. His story: Bernard is originally a ""city slicker"" implanted with an XXL nature gene. His love of Mother Nature and his experiences as a mountaineer and trekker in the Vercors and Alps fuelled him to join the Club Vosgien volunteers early in their tireless work to maintain and mark the hiking trails in the Vosges. He retired in 2003 and wanted to move closer to his children so he left the city behind for the Bruche Valley where he found ""his little slice of the good life"" as he puts it. His passion saw him take the reins of the Schirmeck Club Vosgien from 2009 to 2015 and he still tirelessly covers hundreds of miles in the valley and gives up his time to hiking excursions armed with his secateurs, booklets, hammer, nails and brush. His second passion in life is photography so he's always eagerly on the lookout for a magical experience among the flora and fauna. Bernard on Bernard: ""A simple walk can become magical here, you don't have to force it, you just have to open your eyes."" And we just want to join him... Don't you?

Bernard passed away unexpectedly on October 31st. We wanted to keep his portrait as a tribute to his love for our valley."
